I found "thingswebuy.com" for jewelry.

I've heard that Ebay is great for selling stuff.

I have my mother's antique ring from the 1940s. It looks like tanzanite.?

However tanzanite supposedly wasn't discovered until the '60s. Is there tanzanite jewelry from an earlier time? (I plan to take it to an appraiser)

Your best bet is to take the ring to a jewelry store and ask them about the ring. Some people who have been in the buisness a long time may be able to tell you some of the history on different stones etc.

Has anyone had experience with selling estate or antique jewelry to online buyers, & who are the better ones?

Auction, Auction, Auction....online can be tricky. the best thing to do is get an appraisal so you can set an estimate. I have a friend who sells cars on E-bay and is very successful. you can set a minimum with ebay so that you won't ever get under what you paid or what you may have been told it is worth. and get several appraisals, some people may try to tell you it is worth less to get you to sell it to them. Auctions usually have the people there that are in the market for what you are selling and may know it's worth, so they will outbid eachother to get things, especially antiques.

If you have to sell the property(s) then just know what the going rate is in the neighborhood and what the cost is of what's been added or restored, if any, know the history of the property if it is older. My best advice though is if you don't have to sell then rent, you will get a tax break for it and monthly income to boot. just be wise about who you let out to!

I have a set of antique marcasite jewelry. How do I find out where it came from?

I know it is sterling silver and I beleive it is over 100 yrs. old. I don't know much.

Anyplace online one can compare prices on collectibles, etc., for purpose of selling them?

I have too many things. I want to start selling them online but have no idea of what to charge. Mostly vintage, no antiques. I have vintage collectibles, clothes and jewelry.
