I have recently purchased a large leaded `Chandlers` art deco light. Has anyone any details re this company?
This light is made from beautiful leaded green glass with `Chandlers` going around the light 3 times in white glass.
the light does stand apprx 3` tall and about the same wide and has obviously been a centre piece for an impressive large room.
Any ideas?
You have to try to find the makers and or the artist's mark. It should be on the glass pieces or on the metal somewhere, look for this as this will be invaluable and the information is necessary to have in trying to authentic and establish your piece's origins and history.
Once this is done, get a photo of your chandelier, go to www.flickr.com site or at http://ww.photobucket.com/ and upload a picture there for free.

Once you can establish the history of your pieces and they have been authenticated, i do not believe that you will have any problems selling them at any of the best of the above Auction Houses. The historical aspect of these sort of things if they are also from an important maker,artist can far exceed the normal and nominal fees usually obtained.

watch old Ginger Rodger/Fred Astaire movies ( look at the background set decorations) or research the Chrysler building in NYC for inspiration
Art Deco is characterized by use of materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, lacquer, inlaid wood, sharkskin (shagreen), and zebra skin. The bold use of stepped forms and sweeping curves (unlike the sinuous, natural curves of the Art Nouveau), chevron patterns, and the sunburst motif are typical of Art Deco. Some of these motifs were ubiquitous — for example, sunburst motifs were used in such varied contexts as ladies' shoes, radiator grilles, the auditorium of the Radio City Music Hall, and the spire of the Chrysler Building.
