i have an old mirror silve is peeling off, how do i remove it althgether?
i think the only way to fix this is to get the silver off the back and have a new mirror cut to fit and place on the back. any suggestions on how to get the finish off or where in upstate ny to bring it to? it is an art deco mirror with blue glass panels on the side.
Think about the possibility of having it resilvered. This seems to be not a cheap process but if it is an old art deco mirror it might be worth it. Do a search for mirror resilvering.
You might be able to replace the existing mirror itself? May not be feasible. I doubt if putting a second mirror behind it would work very well.

I have an Antique Vanity that I think is Art Deco style, but not sure. How can one tell what style they have?
Antique Vanity with large round mirror
Look online on, of all places, ebay. Describe your piece in a couple of words and see what comes up. Find some pieces comparable to yours and see how they are described. Pay attention to detail. A decorative edging can be the difference between Edwardian and Victorian.

how do you remove stains from mirrors?
I found a great art deco mirror at a salvage store that has several stains on it. they kind of look like burn stains, somewhat. I've tried CLR and vinegar, but they don't come off. HELP!
I don't think they will come off, I think the back of the mirror needs to be refinished (if that's possible). I think it just adds to the character of the mirror.

i want to date a mirror from online pictures?
i would like to date a mirror,i think it may be art deco but cannot find any examples similar online.
You may need to rephrase your question. It looks like you are saying that you want to go out on a date with a mirror... and I'm pretty sure that's not what you mean.

Is this an Art Deco Table?
I found this table in an antique store and my parents have an end table similar. I'm not sure if it is really Art Deco or a reproduction. Are there any tips anyone can give to help me? It is a coffee table with a blue mirror top. The mirror has lines etched in it about an inch from the sides forming a design. The wood has been painted so I cannot identify the wood. It does need work, but I am willing to restore if it is authentic. Thank you for your help!

Decor/Center piece ideas for a 1920s, art deco, gatsby reception.?
I am involved in planning a 1920s/art deco/jazz themed award ceremony and I need some good ideas for decorations and center pieces. Some basic ideas I already have invovle calla lillies, cut-outs of jazz musicians, and lots of lights. We are spending most of our budget on lights so we were thinking incorprating mirrors into the centerpiece to reflect the light. The centerpieces also have to be pretty large because we will not hav place settings on the table. Any ideas?
Great theme...love it. Continue the "jazz" to the centerpieces. I would look into getting some instruments, either donated by family, from thrift shops, 2nd hand music stores. Using picture frame stands found at local craft or frame shops (Hobby Hobby, Michaels etc.) place the instrument in the center of the table, find some battery operated small lights and place on and around the instrument, drape, circle or place the instrument or case with white, black or another color complimenting your wedding colors feather boas (also found at HH and Ms). Could also use vintage music cases such as violin or trumpet cases. Quite popular during the 20's. On other tables, you could use table lanterns and boas. You could find small mirror tiles to scatter on the table to reflect the lights. Watch some DVDs of that era ie: The Great Gatsby for other great ideas. Pay particular attention to the details. Then use your imagination. You will certainly have the WOW factor with this theme. Congrats!
