Ever heard of Utah Carter Radio Products, an art deco table cigarette holder. Thnx.?
I have two of these. One has engraved "Utah Carter Radio Products" on it. The other does not. Both are art deco style cylinders, made of brass or copper with silver like tops. Tops have spindles and inside holes to ventilate the cigarettes. Bottom is a silver and black round base. Purchased at a garage sale. Owner said they are Art Deco. Fill with cigarettes for people to take, placed on coffee table or around the room. About 7" high, 2-1/2"diameter, base is 4". Thanks.
Authentic Art Deco cigarette boxes sell for $8-12 on Ebay. Smoking accessories have lost popularity lately but I expect them to recover as items get harder to find.
Is this an Art Deco Table?
I found this table in an antique store and my parents have an end table similar. I'm not sure if it is really Art Deco or a reproduction. Are there any tips anyone can give to help me? It is a coffee table with a blue mirror top. The mirror has lines etched in it about an inch from the sides forming a design. The wood has been painted so I cannot identify the wood. It does need work, but I am willing to restore if it is authentic. Thank you for your help!

Art Deco Wedding Reception--ideas for decorations?
The place we are having our reception is in the Art Deco style. Does anyone have any ideas of how to construct table cards that would reflect this style? Any ideas where I can look for Art Deco photos, postcards, prints, etc. to use that would not be too expensive? Wedding is months away so I am just planning. I will use pewter hurricane lanterns on the tables with some flowers...Thanks for any ideas.
What a cool theme. Normally I don't like theme weddings, but I love this:Look at http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=001cHg for some great ideas

I'm looking for ideas for an Art Deco wedding....?
I'm having an art deco/prohibition era wedding and am trying to figure out how to decorate the stage, how to fashion the card box to look like an art deco building and what I should use as table # holders. The ceremony is in the theater of a 1927 building and the reception is in the lobby/hall. I can't figure out for the life of me what to put on the stage. It's just black right now...that's it, black. As far as the card box and the table # holder things, I imagine I'm going to have to make them myself. I have an idea of how to fashion the table thing-a-ma-jiggys (I'm naming the tables, no #'s...'jazz era', black tuesday', 'Al Capone', etc...), but am totally open to suggestions. i'm not the most creative:( Any help will be welcome!
how about something like this? it can be used as a backdrop and will give an awesome look to the black stage, at the front you would then only need potted palm/grass, always present in clubs etc during this era

BD 176, & BD177 are great on here
and 177 has the palm on it!! so a couple of plants would complete the scene!

what about these for holding the cards on the table, they come with a stand and would link the whole jaz thing in, they come in all sorts

Decor/Center piece ideas for a 1920s, art deco, gatsby reception.?
I am involved in planning a 1920s/art deco/jazz themed award ceremony and I need some good ideas for decorations and center pieces. Some basic ideas I already have invovle calla lillies, cut-outs of jazz musicians, and lots of lights. We are spending most of our budget on lights so we were thinking incorprating mirrors into the centerpiece to reflect the light. The centerpieces also have to be pretty large because we will not hav place settings on the table. Any ideas?
Great theme...love it. Continue the "jazz" to the centerpieces. I would look into getting some instruments, either donated by family, from thrift shops, 2nd hand music stores. Using picture frame stands found at local craft or frame shops (Hobby Hobby, Michaels etc.) place the instrument in the center of the table, find some battery operated small lights and place on and around the instrument, drape, circle or place the instrument or case with white, black or another color complimenting your wedding colors feather boas (also found at HH and Ms). Could also use vintage music cases such as violin or trumpet cases. Quite popular during the 20's. On other tables, you could use table lanterns and boas. You could find small mirror tiles to scatter on the table to reflect the lights. Watch some DVDs of that era ie: The Great Gatsby for other great ideas. Pay particular attention to the details. Then use your imagination. You will certainly have the WOW factor with this theme. Congrats!
