Will a black leather couch work in an art nouveau room?

I would like to gradually put my living room in the style of Parisian art nouveau, but I don't think my husband will go for new couches, at least for a while. Right now we have a hand-me-down black leather couch, loveseat, chair, and ottoman that look similar to the ones here http://furniturefromhome.com/products/Quality-living-room-sofas-couch-leather-upholstery-sectional-/as49500-38-35-20-14.

My question is, if I start putting in a coffee table, rug, tiffany lamps, art, etc. from that period, will the couches look dumb with it all?

Black leather furniture is fairly neutral, I think. Go for it! Throw in some wall hangings that have a lot of black in them (example: a "Chat Noir" poster based on the lithograph by Théophile Alexandre Steinlen). Many Tiffany-style lamps have a lot of black in them. If you concentrate on accessories containing black, you should have no problem.

Who was I F Moreau?? Where can I find pictures of his work?

French style art nouveau lamp pictures are needed.

Are you sure it wasn't Gustave Moreau, a french symbolist painter,
1826-1898. I was an art major and have not heard of another Moreau who became famous.

Does anyone know anything about the very large dragon street lamp in Venice Italy?

It looked art nouveau-ish, it was brass and had a colored glass bulb on the bottom. I don't know exactly what calle it was on, but i remember it was between the rialto and st.marks basilica on the corner of a shop.

got it! it is in Rialto at a corner of a shop (it should sell leather accessories such as purses, belts and bags). It is at the entrance of "Mercerie" the street (calle) that leads you to from Rialto to Saint Mark's. In particular it is in Campo San Salvador where a pillar stands (in memory of a historic event occurred when Venetians were under the Austrians -between 1814 and 1866).
