Where can i get a compilation of all the book value of US coins every month for the last 10 years?

I would like to know where I could get the book value of all US coins for the last 10 years. Preferrably if I could get their values per month for every single month for the last 10 years.

Hi.. I am a coin dealer in the Midwest and here's the CORRECT answer. This information is actually available; however, it is going to cost you a few bucks to get it. There is a coin industry publication called the Coin Dealer Newsletter (Greysheet) that comes out weekly, with a monthly summary and quarterly summaries on less-traded issues, plus you can obtain charts and graphs. They have back issues and summaries available going back a number of years...but again, they do charge for them. Check it out at www. greysheet.com .
Bear in mind that these values are WHOLESALE prices, which reflect dealer to dealer pricing and are not RETAIL (what you might expect to pay from a dealer). The best RETAIL book would be the "Guide Book Of United States Coins" (commonly called the "REDBOOK". This comes out annually however, and the book is printed ahead of schedule...for example, the 2007 version is already available so you would use it for 2006 pricing, the '06 version for '05 pricing, and so on. You can buy the newest copy at your local coin store....a library might have older copies.

Hope this info helped you out.

Can I use US coins in Vietnam or only bills?

I don't live in the US, but have a pocketful of US change. I am traveling to Vietnam next week and would like to know if I could use the US coins. My apologizes if this strikes anyone as an inane question.

No, I don't think you can use it here. I am a Vietnamese living in Saigon (HCM city) and so far I haven't ever seen any exchange place nor bank accept coins of any foreign currency.

How much do US coins weigh?

How much do US coins weigh? How much does a penny weigh? How much does a dime weigh and so on... I'm interested in all coins currently being circulated. What I really want to know is if I have a huge stockpile of money in coinage, what coin would make that same about of money have the least weight?

if you are counting the dollars it would be the sacajawea dollar weighing 8.1 g each that weighed the least

WEIGHT FOR A DOLLAR

penny 311 grams
nickel 100 grams
dime 25 grams
quarter 22.8 grams
50 cent piece 25 grams

Why is the writing on the edge of the new US dollar coins sometimes heads-oriented and sometimes tails?

Why is the writing on the edge of the new US Washington dollars sometimes heads-oriented and sometimes tails-oriented?

On some of my Washington dollar coins, the edge writing is "up" when the reverse of the coin is up, and on others, the edge writing is "up" when the obverse is "up". Is this intentional? This inconsistency makes the coins seem junky.

I read this a few days ago: "The edge lettering is being applied randomly with regard to whether it faces up or down on the business strike coins, after the coins are struck. The business strike coins are fed through a vaccuum-like device that sucks them up into the edge lettering prep machine, which lines them up in whichever way the coins happen to enter the process (heads up or down.) Then the coins roll through a device that inscribes the edge lettering. It is expected that in the end, heads-up edge lettering should be about equal in number to coins which receive "tails-up" edge lettering."

The source below, from which the above paragraph is extracted, also describes the modified process that is being used for edge lettering on proof coins. It's a bit different, in an attempt to have most, if not all, of the proof coins with lettering that faces upward.

Is It Illegal To Melt Old US Silver Coins?

I have a lot of old morgan dollars, peace dollars, dimes, quarters etc. I would like to have a few silver rings made from the silver content. Is it illegal to melt old US coins?
these are junk coins that I bought in a lot for really cheap. I am a coin collector and have exaples in mint state condition.

no - research the history of Morgan dollars and you will see almost all of them were melted down.

Where can I get uncirculated versions of current US coins for about face value, excluding mint sets?

I am interested in uncirculated presidential dollars, the new nickels, and other new coins that are being released. I want to collect these in albums and I am not interested in buying mint sets and breaking them up. I also do not want to pay much more than face value, if possible.
