cleaning a vintage edwardian outfit?

Hello - Can anyone help please?
I have bought a beautiful vintage edwardian dress. It doesnt really need cleaning - just smells a bit musty!!
Any advice as to how to air/clean it?
I've hung it a few times by an open window out of the sunlight - is it true lavender can help?
Any advice would be great!

Depending on the value of the dress, I would either take it to a dry cleaner, or put some lavender or some other air freshener in the garment bag with it.

What type of dresses did women wear during the late Edwardian era?

My husband and I are going to a Titanic themed banquet and are expected to dress for that time period. What exactly did people wear then? I don't really want to be the one-hundredth woman to attend dressed like Rose from the movie.......I really don't know how to dress for this.
Any help would be greatly appriciated.....THANX!!!!!!

I know this might be a bit way out but you could go as a butler and maid. I am sure you would stand out in a sea of Roses. Pardon the pun.
Try googleing Victorian on Edwardian maid for some ideas. I have an apron which is actually called an Edwardian Apron ,by Sense and Sensibility which is a full length apron. S&S is a great site for Edwardian fashion ideas.
Buy the way there is a museum that has an authentic maids' uniform from the Titanic on display. This maid was one of the survivors and was wearing her uniform when plucked from the ocean. Google images "titanic maid" if you want to see it.

is there any good places to buy kinda Edwardian/Victorian Era reproduction clothing.... or even like patterns to make them cause i can sew.....

Check with your local theater as well, they may have some patterns laying around, or might rent a suitable dress!

How can I get Episode 21 of Monty Python's Flying Circus?

It includes the sketch with John Cleese as Ludwig Van Beethoven. I have Googled, and looked on Amazon and tried various other searches but the compliations available don't include this sketch. I'd like to get hold of it if possible. I'd also like to know which episode included a cartoon of a man and a woman in Edwardian dress with the woman saying 'would you mind if I made a complete and utter fool of myself' and the man saying 'do, Beatrice, do'. And the Cardinal Richlieu court scene...Any ideas? Thanks.

Impressionist painting of 5 ladies reclining in rattan furniture in a garden.?

I have a print of this picture hanging in my sitting room. I have no idea who painted it or when. The ladies are dressed in long, white (possibly Edwardian) dresses and sitting in a shrubbery, not all of the ladies are fully visible. It may be detail from a larger picture. I love this picture so am looking for some information. Thanks

Sounds like something in the style of Edouard Manet or Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The Courtauld Gallery might help you (London).
