Where can I go to get my Confederate Currency appraised?

I have several notes that are the actual state's currency. They look authentic to me, but I have no idea if they are. My grandfather left them to me in his will and I am just trying to find out if they are worth anything.

Forget the antique dealer for they usually know Little of coins and currency even though they think they do. They will not give you a fair price. You need to see a currency dealer or a coin dealer that also has what you have. Try a few to see what they say. There are a lot of counterfeits around and reproductions. If you live in or near a large city you should have no trouble finding a dealer or two. See if a coin club is in your area they would be of help also..

Was the currency used by the Confederate States backed by gold?

If so where was their depository?

No, on the website Rebel States Currency it is noted that some of the notes issued by the States were backed by cotton while other states backed their notes from bond sales or by mere pledges from the state that they would be redeemable for goods or services.

They Do Have COPY Printed On Them, But Then Again I Cant Seem To Find Anything Over The Internet That Looks Like Them.....

If you're near Montreal, Quebec City or Toronto, I would suggest contacting a coin and currency expert who can research them for you and verify their authenticity. Another option is to contact the agent who handles your homeowners insurance and have them appraised through the insurance company. You may need a rider on them if they have real value...and if they don't, then you're not out anything to find out the truth.

How can I determine the value of some old paper currency that I have?

I have a $100 from The State of Louisiana, $5 and $10 bills from 1864 issued by the Confederate States of America, 500 from pre-war Vietnam (date?), etc.

Honestly, that will let you know more than anything else what the stuff's worth, but of course if it's in mint condition.

What is a 1867 20 dollar bill worth?

My great aunt (who is 78 years old) asked me to find our how much it is worth - she found it in an old sock drawer. It's a confederate currency bill.

Since 1867 is two years after the Civil War ended, I am going to assume that either the date of issue isn't 1867 or it isn't a Confederate note.
Please look again and see if there is another date on it between 1861 and 1865. It would also be good to know the complete name of the issuing bank, city of issue, and the name of the printer of the note (at bottom center). It's probably a pretty good find, but we need more info to evaluate it properly.
