What's the largest denomination of US paper money?

I've seen the novelty bills in stores for $10,000, $100,000 and $1,000,000 bills of US currency. I'm curious what is the largest actual denomination of bill of US currency is presently in circulation whether or not one can actually be obtained.

I believe anything above $100.00 bill is no longer legal tender.

Who here would like to see Ronald Reagan on Federal Reserve Notes (US paper money) soon?

Regan on the the 50 dollar bill or 100 dollar bill would be great.

Would you support this?

I agree completely! President Reagan was the greatest president of the Twentieth Century.

What series in US paper money?

How can I tell what series a $20 bill is? Serial Number E38332440A and is from 1969

Thanks!

Paper money is not usually printed on the date that is on the note. There are series 1969 as well as series 1969A through series 1969C on the $20 notes. The letter is after the date. In the seal to the left on the portrait is a letter and the name of the Federal Reserve District. On the newer notes with the big portrait there are no numbers in the seal. On your note there should be an E and it should say Federal reserve Bank Richmond VA. Your note could have been issued into the 1970's. In grade fine it sells for $22.00 and sells for $30 in grade extra fine. It is not a rare or scarce note. The 1969B is the scarer one and sells for $35 in grade fine. Dealers pay less.

im a collector of us PAPER CURRENCY,is paper money(us only) a better long term investment than us coins?

there seems to be alot less crisp uncirculated paper money out there as compared to uncirculated coins, any other collectors like to comment on this, thanks for looking

I'm a coin collector but have some currency in my collection, too.

Easiest answer is that there are probably more coin collectors than currency collectors.

I cannot attest to the long term trend for currency but coins generally increase in value over time.

The two keys are condition and rarity. The better the condition, the higher the price; the rarer the coin or bill, the higher the price.

I would look at Coin World and similar publications.

Why do all modern US metal coins say "LIBERTY" but it does not appear on any modern US paper money?

They speak with forked tongue

Most US paper money has traces of cocaine so is there a minimum about that you have to have to be charged?

to be charged with possession?
see link for details if you do not believe me:http://www.jeol.com/ms_/docs/Drugs%20on%20Money2.pdf#search='US%20currency%20and%20cocaine'

That just depends on what the Prosecutor is comfortable with. Trace amounts are considered a Felony in all 50 states.

If you had the authority to change all of US paper money and coinage, what changes would you make?

One, two and five dollar coins that are not politically correct (keep George, Tom, and Abe on them) and easily usable. A dollar bill lasts about 18 months while a coin's average lifespan is 30 years. It would be much cheaper. On larger bills, I'd add some color like they are beginning to do. I'd also probably make the sizes larger with larger denominations much like in Europe. It really is easier to sort the money and more difficult to counterfeit.
