I would like to make a Wood primitive sign ..but, I need tips on how to do it.?

My sister told me she loves the wooden signs that say" Always kiss me goodnight" and I would love to make her one for Christmas. I have looked online ...but, I am not sure how to make one. ....what kind of paint,a cheap place to get letter stencils that look old fashioned,how to get the crackle effect...and so on. I lack alot of self confidence when it comes to trying to do any kind of crafts. I know I would love doing it...just afraid of failing.... screwing up. Any help would be appreciated. Hi:

For a crackle effect - there is crackle paint medium that you can get at a crafts store. I haven't used this yet, but I think you paint a base color, let that dry, and then paint another color with this medium mixed in - as it dries, the cracks will form. The thicker the application, the bigger the cracked pieces, thinner - smaller, finer cracks. You might also want to use a light glaze over the top layer to highlight the crackle effect.

You might find an example of a sign you might like to emulate, and use that as a starting point for making your own pattern. If you need more help, just ask. Hope this helps.

What kind of font is used on country/primitive craft signs?

and how do they paint it? is it just a skill, or can you buy stencils? if so, where?

I always use Bradley Hand ITC for this sort of font. I don't know about a stencil for it, although it's a great idea! I taught myself to do it by printing out alphabets (lower and upper case) and writing (copying) the letters below (kind of like teaching a child to print).

Jealous, is it a sign or just primitive territorial instincts?

I recently meet a woman, this was around a month ago so I cant say i know her THAT well yet. She is an amazing woman who i admire but really have not developed any form of feelings for. I mean, she is a beautiful woman, not to mention smart but i honestly don't feel that magical attraction towards her.

However, every time I find out that she has meet some man that she finds interesting, I burst with jealousy and anger! Why am I bursting with jealousy for a woman I don't feel anything for?

Is jealousy a sing that perhaps I care about her as more than a friend, or is it just a primitive territorial instinct kicking in?

Odd thing is, I never felt jealousy about a friend before.

Jealousy is an outward of fear. You fear that she is going to find someone esle. So u need to calm down and remember if u keep this up your fears are going to become reality. You need to learn how to trust her.If u can't then u need to move on.Good luck

yes, because those are cruelty to animals. The ancients found it amusing, but we shouldn't because we know better now.

how do I make those primitive wood/tin signs u see in the stores and stuff for like $30 +?

i know u can make em at home easier, anyone know any sites with instructions??

You need a woodworking router and a template set. Oh yes and some wood!!

"Primitive" signs?

What were the signs hanging outside colonial American "shoppes" called? Aside from primitive, did they actually have a name?

I have heard of them being called shingles or plaques.
