Silver bar?

Recently passed down to me was a small bar of what looks to be silver. on it it reads "CNI"(the N is inside the C) "Cocepa" "50gr" "Argento Silver" "925,000" any idea where this comes from and what value we might be able to attach to it. I cannot say its weight for sure but can provide images.

I bought a 6 pound silver bar with no markings on ebay. How do I know its real?

The bar is 6 pounds, over 100 years old and dark brown, grey and black. It is rough and feels like silver. Is there a way to test this bar and know for sure.

how much do you want to spend?
a jeweler could probably tell you.
you could also measure and weigh it, and see if it seems correct.

what is a 20 pound silver bar worth?

I found a twenty pound silver bar from the 1800's with a letter "S" inside of a armour sheild. Are there any websites or places to contact in order to find the value of this?

20 pound bar of silver, silver was worth $21.34 in March per ounce so assuming that it's still at that price.

20 pound bar of silver is worth $6828.80

What is the physical size of a one ounce gold bar and a one hundred ounce silver bar?

What is the typical size (height, width, and length) of the gold and silver bullion that people buy as an investment.

Surely, you must have seen the size of a Krugerrand, or an American Double Eagle which contain 1 ounce of pure gold. They are about the size of an old American Silver Dollar. So, multiply that by 100 for a silver bar? The densities are not that different.

Put another way, the bar will weigh 100 ounces, or about 6 pounds. That is not a very big package.

I have inherited a Silver bar and would like to know more about it ?

Silver bar markings ..top left "112T" Top Right "84" Bottom Middle "x.99:6 + F" the plus sign looks like an upside down cross. Weighs between 7 and 8 lbs. Any idea you made this and what it is worth?

Hopefully, you get a better answer than this...but I think you may want to take it to a local precious metals dealer and have them look at it. It sounds like it might be a bar of silver. 112T could just be some identifying mark, but if 112T stood for 112 Troy ounces, it would indicate a weight of a little less than 8 pounds. Troy ounces are a little less than 10% heavier than regular ounces. .996F could be .996 fine...just guessing here, but I'm thinking you have either a very old silver bar on your hands, and if not, then who knows what it might be. 100 troy ounces, which is a common silver bar size would be about 7 pounds. If it isn't that, then I have no idea what it might be, or why they would have bothered to bequeath it to you in the first place. Silver today is about $16.70/troy ounce...but you'd get something less than that for the bar. I'd show it to an expert...they'll know what to do with it.

What action can I take if a pawn shop opens up a case that a proof silver bar was incased in?

A pawnshop opened a case with a 6.17 troy once bar , Gold plated 1,000,000 bill ,left marks on case were it was opened and left finger prints, What should I do , I'm pissed

Was the case opened in your presence?
That is standard procedure to test metals for authenticity,there are many times that a client will bring in jewelry that is marked for example 18k and is gold plated instead.

If it was tampered with without you witnessing it that is not good business ethic but would be near impossible to prove.

What is the temperature at the junction when a bar of gold is in thermal contact with a bar of silver?

A bar of gold is in thermal contact with a bar of silver of the same length and area. One end of the compound bar is maintained at 80.0 degrees C (gold end), and the opposite end is at 30.0 degrees C (silver end). When the energy transfer reaches a steady state, what is the temperature at the junction?
Answer is 51.2 degrees C, but how do I solve this problem?

This is basically a question about thermal conductivity, so you have to know (find, look up) the thermal conductivities of gold and silver. The amount of thermal energy going through each of the bars is given by:

E = k * L * t * delta T

E: Energy [J]
k: Thermal conductivity [W / (m * K)]
L: Length [m]
t: Time [s]
delta T: Temperature difference [K]

At steady-state, the same amount of energy will be going through both of the bars since they are in series with each other, in the same amount of time as well. Therefore, you can equate:

k(Au) * L(Au) * delta T (Au) = k (Ag) * L(Ag) * delta T (Ag)

Since the lengths are the same, you can factor those out as well. Expanding the delta T's, you get:

k(Au) * T(Au) - k(Au) * T(interface) = k(Ag) * T(interface) - k(Ag) * T(Ag)

Solving for T(interface):

T(interface) = { k(Au) * T(Au) + k(Ag) * T(Ag) } / { k(Ag) + k(Au) }

So, that's the answer to your question. If you look up the thermal conductivity values and do some conversions from C to Kelvin, you'll see if it works out.
