silver coin?

i have a large one pound silver coin with serial numbers and i got it for the holidays i want to put it away and i was wondering how much is it worth at this point it is dated 2000

actually, your 1 pound of silver is worth around US$180, not $242.

the reason is that the weight of silver and other precious metals is measured in *troy* weight, and there are only *12* troy ounces in 1 troy pound.

all other more common items are weighed using avoirdupois weight, in which there are 16 avoirdupois ounces in 1 avoirdupois pound.

How to plug a hole in silver coin - 10 points 4 best answer?

Does anyone on here have any idea on how to plug a silver coin that has a hole in it from being turned into a pendant? Any good answers will be well appreciated. I will give 10 points to the person that has the best answer. Thanks.

Only an expert can do it. I believe they use silver solder. They have years of experience. It is not illegal to do it as long as no fraud takes place. You can not sell it as an undamaged coin, besides any coin repaired this way by the average person, will stick out anyway to collectors. You can get a piece of the solder from a jeweler. If you watch what you are doing and take your time and must have a steady hand, you can do it so that it don't look to bad. if a valuable coin don't do it but take it to a dealer who can send it in to be repaired by the pro's.

How much do you think a jewelry store would pay for a silver coin made exclusivly for me by the episcopl churh

I was just given a silver coin made exclusivly for me by one of the higher bishops in the church and well since i kinda am in need of some money do to some loan shark troubles i was wondering how much a jewelry store would pay for it. it's made out of just pure silver nothing else and it's one of a kind.

It would have almost no collector value, being that it's a medal rather then a legal tender coin. The best you can get is the melt value of the silver. Even if you were to find someone on e-bay to buy it, I doubt you will be able to get much more for it, and by the sound of it you need the money ASAP.

How can I become a gold or silver coin salesman?

I have sold items on the phone before, working in a boiler room operation.

Now I have an idea that many people are worried about the dollar losing value, and would like a hedge against inflation with investments in gold or silver coins.

I don't know how to get started. I don't know what licenses are required in California.

Also, I would like to work from my home, either as a contractor for a brokerage house, or for myself.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Ken

Anyone can become a gold or silver salesman, but to do it professionally you either must have a death wish or you can afford to loose what most people would call a very large sum.

It is not the glamour job you might think.

You will be the target of thieves, con artists, schemers, and the tax department (sorry if you think I might have mentioned them already).

You will need to spend mega thousands on security, advertising and insurances all for a gain of $50 for each thousand dollars spent.

My advise, first start by buying some personal stock spend a few hundred hours going to coin dealers, auctions and be prepared to loose some big dollars as you will undoubtedly get stung with a few dud deals.
People will sell you goods that they do not own. and they will squeal either to the cops, (who will come and take them from you) or if they belong to a drug baron, mafia hit-man, or other unsavoury type, (who will send someone around to pick them up, after breaking a few limbs or worse), so in the end you will loose and have to grin and bear it.

But apart from all that if you do succeed, it is an interesting profession.
I would say if you are serious, have $1,000,000 or more to throw away or get a second job on the side

how do i turn silver coin to rainbow color?

how do i turn silver coin to rainbow color?

Heat place it in an oven.
Sulfur is the active toning agent most of the time.

Sometimes just wrapping it in paper and leaving it on a desk for a few months does it.

What is a good silver coin to invest in?

I want to purchase some silver coins, before the value of silver increases.

BECAREFUL HERE!!!!! Do not fall for anything that is Gold =LEAF or Silver =LEAF. And it must be minted prior to 1963 to be real silver unless other wise stated by a stamp of being .999 which is the highest and most desired % of silver.
I might suggest a good coin book or site to research this...
AGAIN I WARN YOU TO BE CAREFUL...And there are scammers out there that will be happy to take you!
I have been a collector for 40 yrs.

Check value of commemorative silver coin?

I have a Commemorative Silver Coin of the Chinese Bing Zi Year 1996, (Year of the Rat). Issued by People's Bank of China, minted by Shenyang Mint. 36mm in diameter, 90% in fineness, 10 yuan in face value, 2/3 ounce of pure silver, total mintage is 6800 pieces. What is the value of this coin? Anybody? Thank you.

Without seeing pictures it's very difficult for anyone to give you a good answer. Many factors play in to how much your coin is worth (i.e. condition, scarcity, mint marks, current market demand, etc.)

1 - Take your coin to a local coin dealer (trustworthy ones can be found - shop around, get second opinions). It never hurts to get a second opinion. They will be able to tell you so much more by evaluation the condition of the coin. They will also know the amount minted and what it is going for in today's market.

2 - Try posting pictures on this website (there are many experts here that can help you evaluate it - there also may be people willing to buy if you are trying to sell):

3 - Repost this question and include pictures. You can use websites like http://www.photobucket.com and include the link in your question.

Good luck!

P.S. Do not clean your coin as this can drastically reduce the value.
