Silver Dollars.?
I have 2 Silver Dollars in my aquarium, they are just a little larger than palm size. I find them quite strange as I've caught them hanging about upside down in the tank more than once. They don't appear sick and are very alert. Does anyone know why they do this?
they are unusual and often lie flat also, i would check your water quality to be sure though and check they have enough oxygen.

How many Silver Dollars in a 75 gallon tank?
I've been cycling a 75 gallon tank now for a month and everything is at a good level for dollars. I check it every other day. Currently have five mollies in the tank to help with cycling, no deaths and everything is good.
Looking at getting some silver dollars this coming weekend and the question is how many. Thinking of doing 8-10 sound good?
Also, thinking about going with some freshwater shrimp in the future, feasible or no?
Pretty safe to figure 1in. of fish= 1Gal. of water. I a 75 gal tank Silver Dollars will probably reach 2 1/2-3in.. So, putting 8-10 silver dollars in the 75 will still give you some room for bottom feeders. 35yr exp.

How many silver dollars could I keep comfortably in a 30 gallon tank.?
I just picked up a great bargain on a 30 gallon with aqua clear filter, heater, lighted hood, and stand all for $20 at a garage sale. My tank is currently cycling. I would like to have a school of silver dollars along with a few (5-15) small fish such as hatchetfish and blind cave tetras. All of these fish are schooling fish and like to be in groups of 3 or more. How many of each fish would you suggest? I was thinking 3 silver dollars, 3 hatchetfish and 4 blind cave tetras. Thanks!

What are the value of these Morgan silver dollars?
There are no coin collecting catagories but this is the suggested yahoo category I was placed under. I have Morgan Silver dollars dated 1896, 1897, and 1921. I also have a 1926 liberty head silver dollar.
First of all did you check for mint marks? On the Morgan Dollars they are on the eagle side at the bottom below the wreath is there is one. On the Peace dollar it is on the eagle side below the word one. If there are no mint marks on the Morgan dollars then in grade good they have a value of $13.50, $11 for the 1921. The value goes up too $16 in grade extra fine, for the 1921 $12. Even in mint state they are not worth a lot. The 1926 has a value of $11.25 in grade good to $14 in grade extra fine. The above prices are about what a dealer would pay.

There is no such place. With silver and gold doing their thing no one is stupid enough to sell either at low prices. There is no such thing as Mercury dollars but there are dimes.

How much are silver dollars worth?
I have two silver note dollars. They look like dollar bills but they have silver edition. Or silver certificate. How much are they worth? Or are they just worth a dollar?
If they are worth something, where can i go to exchange them?
If you spend them, they're only worth $1. However, you might look into some coin collectors and see if they have a value as a collector's item.

Will a red tailed shark be ok in a tank with clown loaches and silver dollars?
The tank has been set up for 3 years now have had the silver dollars for 2.5 years and the loaches for 2. all the fish are getting along and school together peacefully(Loaches schooling with silver dollars) I read that red tails can be aggressive so i don't want to disrupt the tank's harmony by introducing a fish that might cause troubles but I REALLY like the look of the red tails.
76 gallons
3 silver dollars
2 clown loaches
I'm not sure about loaches...
My red tail is totally intollerant of other fish who are bottom feeders and have a similar body shape. He killed one of them (made it starve to death, wouldn't let it eat) and I learned from that mistake early on and have not attempted it again :P He's now 6" long and 9 years old, and has happilly been the ONLY bottom feeder in his tank this whole time :P
I have heard that in a very large tank with lots of hiding areas this can be successfully done, however.
If the other fish are bigger or just as big, maybe it won't be an issue, though, given your tank is large enough.
I do agree with you... these are handsome fish :) my guy is my absolute favorite fish, and he's gorgeous. My oldest fish, too. The worst he does to the other fish in the tank is chase them sometimes, but the other fish I have are all either quick or semi-agressive too, so I've had no issues.
