where can I sell my sterling silver flatware?
I have many pieces of sterling silver flatware. Much is mismatched but still sterling. Is there anywhere I can sell it at a fare price?

How do I restore frequently used and scratched sterling silver flatware to its original condition?
I have my grandmother's Sterling silver flatware and would like to restore it as best I can. It polishes well. My grandmother used it as everyday flatware, so it has many scratches from use. I cant afford to have it professionally restored, so I was hoping there was a way for me to do it myself. Thanks for any advice you can give.
You can shine it, but, to make it "picture perfect" you will have to have it "replated"...
And I say, Good for ol Granny! She is a "real" person, not to SAVE that silverware for a "rainy day"...
Use it while your still here, and dont worry about saving it for the next generation because they can get thier own, or they can have it replated if they want to use it too!
Your Grandma had the right idea and I applaud her! :)

Would you buy silver flatware?
It is a complete set of sterling silver flatware, but have not been able to identify the pattern or the year of production, but do know who manufactured it. Purchase for $80, clean it up then resell, or hold on to it?
This is sterling silver, and the owner doesn't know what he really has. All the owner knows is that it was his grandparents and now it is his and he doesn't know what to do with it.
I feel like I am in a sense taking advantage of him, but he isn't willing to research it and find out what he has.
Try to identify the pattern by checking the hallmark at Replacements.com. They have literally thousands of patterns both active and discontinued to check against. See what they are selling a set for and determine what you want to do with it. You might be surprised!
My mother has a lot of silver flatware to sell. Is now a good time?
She is working with an "advisor" who says that now is a good time to sell silver. But when I look at silver prices, they look about half of what they were six months ago. Is this "advisor" steering my elderly mother wrong, or is the silver price not directly related to the market for silver flatware?
is the advisory going to get anything from this sale? if yes then ignore him. if you are not in a rush for the money the longer you hold on to it the better.
What's the best way to get top dollar for silver flatware?
We have a sterling service for twelve, Paul Revere pattern by Towle, with an "O" monogram. Is the silver content worth more, and how would we determine current silver value?
I would check the closed auctions at Ebay.com or Yahoo auctions. Those are usaully good indicators of what the current value is on these types of items.

I have some old silver that is stamped with Simon L and George P Co. Also has the number A14 on it?
Check Ebay to see what the going rate is. Check a few times over the course of a few weeks.
There are also people who specialize in that kind of stuff. It doesn't hurt to ask an antique dealer what they will give you for it. Figure its probably worth at least twice what they offer.

i have a set of flatware marked 1881 Rogers A1. how do i tell if silver or not?
It will be marked "silverplate"or "sterling." Sterling is 92.5% pure silver. Most of the Rogers silverware is silver plated. It looks nice but is not sterling. If you are not sure, just bring in a piece of the flatware to a pawn shop or antique store and ask. They will know.
