How can I keep a silver ring from turning green?

I have a ring that not only turns me finger green but the intricate band is turning green as well.

I have tried silver cleaner, jewelry cleaner and clear nail polish but I can't get the green out of the ring!! UGH!

True silver will not turn green, or turn your finger green. It must be costume jewelry. The material in the ring is reacting with the oils and natural chemicals of your skin.

But try some toothpaste and an OLD toothbrush. The brush will help get into the nooks and crannies of the intricate band, and provide a good scrubbing and the foaming action of the paste should get everywhere. Rinse well with water and pat or air dry. This should help get the green gone. I know it worked for me. Might take some time and effort.

Afterwards, when clean, you can then apply the clear nail polish to make a barrier so that the reaction can't happen as easily again. Good Luck!

How do I care for a silver ring when it left a mark on my finger?

I slept with my silver ring on last night and it left a silver band mark on my finger when I woke up. I understand it's not the most high quality silver ring, but is there something I can do to prevent this from happening time and time again?

I sounds like it just too tight, you didn't say what kind of mark. If it's under your ring and it doesn't hurt it wouldn't bother me. But if it a rash maybe your allergic to that metal....

PS, if it left your finger green it's not real silver.Also, remove it at night so it's less warn..

How do I clean a silver ring to make it shiny?

I have a sterling-silver ring and it's not shiny. It looks a little dull like it's changing to a darker color. Are there any household items I can use to make it more silvery and shiny?

How can I prevent a silver ring from tarnishing everytime I get it wet?

Whenever I wash dishes or wash my hair, my silver ring turns black. How can I prevent this from happening?

Believe it or not it is you. Your body chemistry is effecting the ring more than the water. Take a chance, have someone else wear it and see if they have the same problem. Probably not. Also to consider is what % of silver is in the ring. It might be the metals mixed with the silver that is causing it to tarnish.

How do I clean my silver ring?

I have a silver ring and it got really "yellowish". How do I clean it(at home)? Does anyone know any good ways?

I have read all of the answers you have so far.
I wear LOTS of Silver everyday.
This is what I do depending on how I feel at the time:

Tarn-X can be bought at Wal-Mart by the cleaning supplies. Just dip your silver, rinse it off and dry with a soft cloth. Works great if you have alot to do. Not real good for some stones though.

Silver polishing cloth bought in the jewlery department at Wal-Mart. Just rub it leaves a black mark on the cloth but the jewlery is shiny just don't forget to turn the cloth over and use the other side cause there is a treatment in the other side that will keep it shiny for awhile.

Toothpaste on a cloth works good especially if you only have one ring

I just bought a sterling silver ring from a reptuable place and the ring is turning my finger green?

I just bought a sterling silver ring from a reputable place and my finger is slightly turning green. I don't think I can return it.
The inside says: .925
What's the deal with my ring?

The ring certainly sounds fake. When you say that the inside says .925 is that engraved on the ring or something else? If the place is truly reputable you should be able to return the ring. Hope all goes well!

How much would it be to resize a sterling silver ring?

I have a silver ring and it's not plated. It's a size 12 and I need it in a size 8. Would anyone know how much that would cost?

$20-ish. when you size up, you're adding metal, so it's usually a tad pricier than when you size down. you'll most likely just pay for labor. phone ahead. most jewelers will be happy to answer your question.
