How much electricity can a sterling engine generate?
THese sterling engine type kits, how much electricity can one generate.
There is very little torque but some can produce an impressive angular velocity.
can this be induced and if one where to produce a 100 or so ,what would one be able to power up?
Yes they can be induced and they do make a lot of energy if designed right and if there is enough heat or cold to keep the machine running.
It would be much more efficient to make one big one, instead of a lot of smaller ones. There are commercial units out there that make +50kw*h. Enough to run a 2000sq.ft house.

Ah, I just noticed that this links shows a genset that does use the torque to turn the generator. As for direct coil induction, that would be something to look into. Thanks for the heads up :)

How can Sterling Engine generate electric power?
When the Sterling Engine is on the solar dish, the fuel is Hydrogen, for the engine? & how was the Hydrogen generated? by the high temperature of heat gathered by the solar dish? What is the minimum temperature to create the Hydrogen? Plesae advise. Thanks.
You may have several concepts confused here. A Stirling engine generates mechanical torque directly from heat through the operation of the stirling cycle on a working medium, which might just be air. There is no combustible fuel involved in the process, and generating hydrogen is not necessary.
The output shaft of the Stirling engine simply turns a generator.

Can a sterling engine be used with Freon gas instead of air?
I understand that freon boils at 32 degrees F , is this true?
Outside the engine or internally? They now use Hydrogen or Helium for internal. So what advantages would Freon have? Boiling point of Hydrogen is 20.28 degrees K with MP of 14.01 K. Since the Stirling cycle needs a gas for heat transfer, this gives the engine a very wide working range.
If you are talking about externally, say in a refrigeration unit to recover heat for other purposes then why not? Stirling engine does not care where the temperature difference is so long as it has one.

What about adapting the Sterling cycle engine to motorbikes or scooters?
I thought of this idea to save money on fuel, and help the environment.
not powerful enough ...only good for low horsepower aplication ..

How does a sterling engine work?
The Stirling engine is a heat engine that is vastly different from the internal-combustion engine in your car. Invented by Robert Stirling in 1816, the Stirling engine has the potential to be much more efficient than a gasoline or diesel engine. But today, Stirling engines are used only in some very specialized applications, like in submarines or auxiliary power generators for yachts, where quiet operation is important. Although there hasn't been a successful mass-market application for the Stirling engine, some very high-power inventors are working on it.
A Stirling engine uses the Stirling cycle, which is unlike the cycles used in internal-combustion engines.
The gasses used inside a Stirling engine never leave the engine. There are no exhaust valves that vent high-pressure gasses, as in a gasoline or diesel engine, and there are no explosions taking place. Because of this, Stirling engines are very quiet.
The Stirling cycle uses an external heat source, which could be anything from gasoline to solar energy to the heat produced by decaying plants. No combustion takes place inside the cylinders of the engine.
There are hundreds of ways to put together a Stirling engine. In this article, we'll learn about the Stirling cycle and see how two different configurations of this engine work.
