Who buys wallace sterling flatware, Rose Point - 89 pc?

Live near Austin Texas. Would like to sell sterling silver flatware soon. Really don't know where to look for a buyer...any suggestions?
It is in good shape. Very nice. The box it is in is looking a bit worn - wooden, lined box. Obviously an older set, but no one knows exactly how old. I will have to do some research to find out what it is worth.

Advertise in the neighborhood, that you are going to hold a garage sale on a particular date and time. Results will come.

where can I sell my sterling silver flatware?

I have many pieces of sterling silver flatware. Much is mismatched but still sterling. Is there anywhere I can sell it at a fare price?

How do I restore frequently used and scratched sterling silver flatware to its original condition?

I have my grandmother's Sterling silver flatware and would like to restore it as best I can. It polishes well. My grandmother used it as everyday flatware, so it has many scratches from use. I cant afford to have it professionally restored, so I was hoping there was a way for me to do it myself. Thanks for any advice you can give.

You can shine it, but, to make it "picture perfect" you will have to have it "replated"...

And I say, Good for ol Granny! She is a "real" person, not to SAVE that silverware for a "rainy day"...

Use it while your still here, and dont worry about saving it for the next generation because they can get thier own, or they can have it replated if they want to use it too!

Your Grandma had the right idea and I applaud her! :)

Must all sterling flatware be marked sterling?

I have six pieces that appear to be sterling but can not find the word sterling on them

Sterling silver is not pure silver as most people think. It has a small percentage of other metals to make it harder. It does not have to be marked but usually is because of the perception that it is superior and therefore sells at a higher price. It is very possible, even likely that yours has a silver content too low to be called Sterling ( A quick search said 92% or higher ) Does not mean poor quality.

Where to sell antique 1930s Sterling flatware...?

I have a 12 place setting, sterling silver flatware set from the 1930s, Oneida's "King Cedric".
It's been appraised at about $14000.

In the research I've done so far, the most expensive one that sold is around $1360 on ebay. So ebay's not the way to go on expensive items apparently.

Does anyone know a good place to sell these and get a price around the $10000 (or close to it)?

I would suggest checking with replacements.com I think they buy silver...

or you can sell it on ebay :) either as a single lot or a few pieces at a time. I have purchased several pieces on ebay to replace lost or damaged ones.

How do you remove rust from sterling silver flatware?

The dishwasher killed it - any ideas?

First, be sure it's really sterling silver. True sterling silver is very expensive, and probably was your grandmother's. It's heavy because it's solid silver. The "hollowware" or knives (so called because the handles are hollow) should be handwashed. Sterling doesn't rust, though it will get a dark tarnish.

Silverplate, on the other hand, is more modern styled and if the silver layer wears off, it is possible to rust if the base metal was steel and not brass. I would use a gentle silver polish on the rusted areas. You don't want to remove any more of the silver plating. There are companies which specialize in replating silverplate, generally by the piece.

Maybe what you have is stainless steel flatware, which can rust even if it's 18/8 stainless if it is badly worn. I'd use a partly worn out Scotchbrand scrubbie sponge to remove the rust on stainless.

Dishwasher detergent is very harsh. It has to be to dissolve grease and leftover food. The high powered hot water combined with the harsh detergent will ruin good crystal, silverplate and sterling, and any china with metal rims.

how to get sticky residue sterling silver flatware?

I bought a 10 piece flatware set at a sale, but it was grouped by scotch-type tape. The tape is gone, but the lines and gunk from the tape remain. Any thoughts? It's also pretty tarnished. I'll take any advice.
