What does the number on the back of my sterling silver earrings mean?

On the back of my earrings (sterling silver studds) that I think are 'butterfly backs' (the ones with two circles) it has a number written on the back that's quite small.
It says 825.
What does this mean?

its a manufacture code. that means it wasnt made by some bum in his basement or inexpensively in chine by the same people who make diapers =] now if it was along the lines of 10, 14, or 24 it would be the value of it in karots, but its not, so just a code for the maker.

How long should I wait before begining to wear sterling silver earrings?

Okay so it's been about 15 weeks since I got my ears pierced and I've been wearing gold earrings for all 15 weeks and I just wanted to know how long I had to wait before starting to wear sterling silver earrings.

Oh, what would happen if I wore silver earrings earlier

nothing should happen, just in case though get hypo-allegernic

Where is a good retailer (in the UK) to buy sterling silver earrings, not too expensive?

I want to build up a collection of earrings but don't want to spend loads. I want sterling silver to start with or 9k, 14k gold/white gold to start with so my ears don't get infected. My piercings can be changed next week.

Where can i find sterling silver earrings?

Ok, so my ears are like really sensitive and i can only wear sterling silver earrings. Where can i find some that aren't like super expensive but are still pretty cute?

Usually in walmart or K- mart they have earrings marked sterling. Otherwise go to a second hand shop.

Does anybody know where I can find Sterling Silver earrings in the shape of stars?

I'm looking for some sterling silver earrings that are in the shape of stars. I don't want and like fancy crystals on them or for them to be colored I just want the regular studs. You guys have no idea how hard it is to find some! You would be awesome if you knew where to find some!

Oh and Ive been to Claires and all those stores and have no luck!

try kohl's. I got mine from hot topic though so try there too if you have one near you or spencers. or any of the three online.

Is sterling silver earrings better than cheap diva earrings?

Are sterling silver earrings better quality than just normal cheap earrings from Diva? I have just got my ears done and i have been looking for earrings but i am not sure about what i should look for ?!

ohhhh...
for sure stearling silver ones are the best!!
reasons being:
1. diva earings (or any fake earings) will loose their colour, you cant wet them and easily break.
2. if you are like me, i cant even wear fake earings because they hurt my ears.
3. they tend to cost only a little bit less then real ones, and if you buy real ones they cost you a whole $10 more and they will last you forever wont break change colour, you can get them wet and they wont hurt your ears.

Sterling silver earrings safe for sensative ears?

I had my ears pierced a long time ago when I was 5 and had really bad infections and had to take the earrings out. 20 years later I finally got my ears re-pierced and luckilly its been 8 weeks with 14k gold earrings and no infection..yay!! I can finally change out my earrings now and want to know if sterling silver is okay for sensative ears? Also If I did get in infection how soon would I be able to tell with the earrings in? Thanks!

My problem with sensitive skin is even worse than your case: I can only wear sterling silver (marked with 925 on it, which is 92.5% purity) or 24K gold (99.9% purity) jewelry (anything less pure, my skin breaks out in a bad rash within an hour). From my experience, sterling silver is completely safe for sensitive ears. In your case, since you can withstand 8 weeks of 14K gold (58.3% gold purity) earrings, you can definitely try the earrings marked as "sensitive solution" or "hypoallergenic."

As for taking care of infections, you can tell within 24 hours if your earlobes are swollen and have green pus oozing out. So make sure your hands are clean in handling your earrings and earlobes.
