Where online can I buy sheets of sterling silver to make jewelry?

I see lots of jewelry supply sites and sterling silver jewelry, but so far I can't find a supplier of plain sterling silver pieces.

I need to cut sheets of the silver to make jewelry...

www.firemountaingems.com would be my first choice, although i am unsure of the cut sheets of silver. i know they used to offer coils-like any wire.

I have a lot of sterling silver jewelry, and I was wondering if there is anything around the house that I could clean it with. Or if there is something I can buy that works well. Thanks!

Basic toothpaste and a very soft toothbrush, like one you would buy for a baby. This will work on any jewelery, sterling silver included.

I have some sterling silver jewelry marked .925 Italy with maker's stamp, but is weakly magnetic, why?

I've noticed some stamped chain link sterling jewelry having a weak magnetism when held to a strong magnet (not the average fridge magnet but stronger) does get attracted -- why is this? is the the tiny amount of non-silver metals in sterling doing this? is the .075 nickel or iron?

Nickel is magnetic in nature, so it would seem that you have reasoned out your answer. I have never noticed this with my sterling jewelry, but I haven't tested it either. How odd...will have to try!

Hi,

I recently bought a sterling silver necklace from a jeweler and with it came this small, very soft cloth. He said that I should use it to clean my sterling silver. It doesn't need to be wet, I just wrap the cloth around the necklace and slide the necklace thru. You may be able to pick one up at a local jewelry shop.

Unfortunately, the cloth cannot get into the hard to reach places. Take an old tooth brush and put some toothpaste on it, then work it into your sterling silver, being sure to get into the corners and such. The brush works great for getting into those hard to reach places.
