how do i know how much my sterling silver tray is worth?
Find a jeweler, (Not a Mall jeweler,) but one who specializes in estates and fine jewelry and get it appraised. Also, ask him ifyou should get a floater on your homeowner's policy to cover it. (He would know)
It might cost a few bucks, but it might be worth it.
looking for the value of a gorham sterling silver tray circa 1920, 24" long?
whatever someone is willing to pay
Is a Wm Rogers 971G silver 12" in diameter tray worth any money? How do I find out? I think this is Roger Bros
I think that this is a sterling silver tray made by Roger Brothers. On the back of the tray there is embedded the following information: WmRogers971G (if this will help).
Thanks for your assistance.
try the aniques roadshow web site
I have a sterling silver tray with 5 wine goblets given by a deceased relative who was in their 80's.?
What do you think it's $ value might be.
The tray is small, about 16 inches long and 6 inces wide. The goblets about 6 inches in height.
Your local coin shop would evaluate it for you if you're looking to sell. But that wouldn't take into account any collectability value, it would just pay you for the weight of the silver. People that work in those places can be very helpful, though, and can advise you on silver content, weight, stuff like that, worth a trip to a reputable dealer.
Where can you get the soft flannel no-tarnish cloth covers in which to store sterling silver trays, bowls, etc
Have you tried bed bath & beyond? Or go to a higher end retail store like bloomingdales & look for them in the housewares dept or in the fine china & silverware dept. At the very least get some cheap flannel shirts & sew a few up for yourself (like a pillow case), put the silver in & wrap it up, not fancy but it works.
How can I clean tarnish off of sterling silver with gemstone in it?
I heard on PBS you can use Borax and somethig else in a aluminum tray. I didn't catch what the other chemical was.
You can buy a sterling silver cleaning cloth at Walmart/Kmart/Target in the jewelry section. I think the brand name is Connisseurs (sp?).
I have only used that for years on my sterling silver jewelry and its wonderful!
Other than that, wearing your sterling silver jewelry daily; i.e. during washing dishes, showering, etc., cleans it automatically and keeps it shiny.
What kind of Sterling serving dish is this?
Please look at this slideshow and see if you can tell me what it is for or what kind of serving tray/dish it is.

It does not have the knife so I say you are lucky to have it!
