I'm looking for a pattern for a Victorian Coat for a baby. Can anyone help

Please provide a sketch or photo or something to work from... "Victorian coat" could mean a reefer, a sack coat, an ulster, a hunt coat, a Norfolk jacket....

What color should I paint my Victorian house?

I am doing the base coat a very pale grey and the trim will be bright white. I cannot decide on a good accent color. I would like it to be noticable but not garrish or tacky. I thought of very dark blue or even black. Any more suggestions would be appreciated.

We have a large queen anne victorian house that was a dark blue when we bought it. It looked sad and dreary. We painted the house more in the victorian style using three colors. We painted the house a light blue and painted a band of shingles that were scalloped around the house in a butter yellow. We also trimmed out the windows in yellow and had the porch with the classic white. People in town now love it and we always get compliments. Have fun with your victorian and make it stand out.

What colors should I paint my victorian home?

I have a victorian house with a red roof and red brick - I would like to paint the base coat in a cream color - do you have any suggestions on what colors I should use for the trim and access colors?

Many folks think of Victorian homes as being brightly colored and gingerbread-y. While this is true in some communities, it was only really a very small segment of Victorians, specifically the grand Queen Annes which were treated in this way and only then in certain communities such as San Francisco's painted ladies. Most Victorians were painted earth colors, especially late Victorians as there was a fascination and pre-occupation will all things in nature. This later manifested itself in the Arts and Crafts Movement and Art Nouveau. I digress, certainly the brick and red roof are calling the shots, and I have absolutely no problem with putting lighter colors on the bottom. I'd say too that a deep burgundy sounds great but be careful as the extreme contrast between light cream and dark burgundy will only serve to push those colors farther apart...the cream will look lighter and the burgundy may read as a black from more than 10 feet away. Avoid green as you don't want to set up a Christmas palette of red/green. This may sound radical but I would recommend a palette of cream with rose and darker red accents. I am not suggesting a pink house or bright red trim, certainly you will want to make these very muted colors. Try these and see if they don't fit the bill of natural looking yet compliment the brick and roof as well as the Victorian temperment...all colors Ben Moore
1) Dusty Ranch Brown, 2105-40
2) Sequoia, 1235
3) Beaujolais, 1259
Use all of them in some sort of combination on your house if the decorative millwork allows...good luck!

What is the best and longest lasting type of roof that I could put on my old Victorian home?

Within reason, what are the options I should consider?

Metal?

Long lasting shingles?

Metal coated with crushed stone?


Any ideas or info would be appreciated.

Traditionally, Victorians would have had slate tile roof, But it is prohibitively priced (12 - 15 times more than standard shingles), not to mention, It will raise your homeowners insurance.

I would think standing seam metal is the best and most traditional alternative. You can easily get 50+ years from a properly installed metal roof. However I do not recommend these for home surrounded my large mature trees.

The best value for the dollar (or of none of the above will work) are architectural grade asphalt shingles.

anyone know where i can get a floor-length coat to wear over a formal dress in the winter?

I'm going to a December wedding in Detroit, and will be wearing a satin dark blue evening gown with silver/grey shoes. I don't own any coat that goes below the knees and I haven't been able to find anything suitable online. The closest thing I found is this beautiful Victorian-style coat, which is out of stock, on J.Peterman. (http://jpeterman.com/product.asp?cat=110207&sku=WOW%201941)
I would love a coat that in that Victorian style, or "princess" (empire waist) style. I'm afraid I won't be able to find a floor-length coat with that elegant tailored look. Please help! Thank you!

A woman asks the question “Which woman clothes can be appropriate for age and size to wear?” Some researchers’ claims that the each store will have for each different size for young adults, ladies, and the elderly for cape, jacket, and coat so the women could feel comfortable when keeping themselves warm.

The Victorian cape, Metropolitan Walking cape and Evening Cape are three categories of Capes. First, Victorian Cape is sleeveless garment often tied around the neck and hang over the shoulder. The Victorian has a midriff length capelet with an upright collar. The young lady as well as an adult has many different reasons to wear a Victorian coat. For, example, the Victorian cape is warm and comfortable on cold moonlit nights and crisp winter days.
Secondly, the Metropolitan Walking Capes are sleeveless garment often hang over the shoulder. Metropolitan Walking Capes can use for elderly as well as an adult who doesn’t like to wear a jacket. The cape is thick and cold. The cape made of 100% merino wool (lined) and 100% cashmere (lined). It is heavy weight. The garment can use to go to mall or to the subway. When the rain comes, the garment has a hood to cover their head.
Finally, the young lady wears an Evening capes to a meeting or traveling the world. These capes may be short (over the shoulders or to the waist) or a full-length cloak . They don’t have to worry about hair. The Evening cape helps them to prevent the rain because the hood will cover their head. The Evening cape is useful for go theater or to the dinner. The three categories of cape can be use for fall and winter. They don’t have to worry about winter or fall because the cape has heavy weight.
The young adult have to wear warm snow jacket also for winter and fall. . Jacket is a lightweight, thigh-or waist-length coat that may be worn by young ladies and adult. It helps them to prevent water or snow going through the body. For example, a jacket can be useful to go to Snow Mountain for skied, or walking to the snow, or ice skating.
Finally, Abercrombie and Fitch Candace Women's Fur Bomber Jacket is supper soft and comfortable wearing for winter. It is 100% cotton and luxury with Faux fur lined body. The fur hoodie can be removable with two ways zippers styles Abercrombie. The coat is for a young lady.
The young girl and adult wear outerwear coat to make them beautiful when they are going to Snow Mountain or ice-skating. The outerwear could be light or heavy weight but they could put two sweater on over the coat or, cape or, or jacket to keeping themselves warm.

I don't really see anything wrong with it.

I would change "Finally, Abercrombie and Fitch...." to "In conclusion,Abercrombie and Fitch...." because you wouldn't want to use the word "finally" twice. Remember to indent when you start a new paragraph since I don't see any indentation in this.

Its a good essay and very interesting! If I was grading this,I would give it a 4+ or a A+! Good luck!
