How do you think it feels to wear a victorian corset and gown for an evening?
I have read loads of sources on victorian costume and many conflict as to what life was like for victorian women regards their dress.
I wondered if anyone else had any experience or a good idea as to the truth.
i have worn them for costume parties...they are after a while somewhat uncomfortable...but its fun and u sort of get used to it and enjoy the moment....plus it makes me feel dressed up(which people nowadays don't do enough) and very feminine....it exemplifies the differences in men and women...

Is the Victorian corset counted as a traditional thing?
Because I'm doing fashion design on the topic "Traditional and modern". But I'm not sure whether the Victorian corset is a 'traditional thing' or not.
Thanks everyone in advance! x
I consider it a traditional thing because it has not been used for a long time and started being used a long time ago/

How can i tie up an underbust victorian corset myself?
I can tie it up fine in the centre, but tying it up towards the bottom is burning my head, haha.
Please help my brain and my corset =^.^=

Yes I know there are sites that say how to do it- but I am after a version that someone has tried and actually uses- because the "how to's" are obscure.
Have a look at this,

The only difference that I do is place the loops over a door handle. Then as I slowly tighten the laces walk forward to take up the slack. Makes it easier as both hands are free.
Enjoy I luv corsets, remember to break it in first.

Where can I buy a corset for a victorian party?
My friend is having an all out Victiorian party. So we are both hostin and also wearing matching dresses. Its all out so I need to wear a corset. I know the way they did it was bad for your health I'm not going to make it THAT tight but just something to add a little bit of inching.
I do not need a 15 hundred dolar antique. I just ned a basic corset thatll also add inching.
What color shoes go with a marie antoinette blue, and daisy pink victorian dress? I have these blue ones and pink. Or is there another color thats better?
I make steel spring corsets and underbusts. http://glamourbunny.etsy.com

Victorian Corset dresses...?
Im looking for a list of movies wear the women, or at least the main actress, wear(s) victorian style clothing. Not brightly colored stuff, but like what Kate Beckinsale has on in Van Helsing. I love the clothing from that time period, but I also like the movies to be darker. So far, Van Helsing was the perfect match of the two. Can anyone help me find more movies like this?
It's not dark, but Titanic is one example. So is Mark Twain and Me. The American Girl Samantha movie is set in the Edwardian era, which was right after Victoria died (really not what you want, but hey, it's what I can think of.) Perhaps something like Pride and Prejudice, or that Reese Witherspoon movie (it was long and boring, though). Hope this helps! More chick flicks: Anne of Green Gables (and the series made later),

Where can I find a real corset?
Not one of those fake slut corsets. I want a real Victorian corset. It doesn't actually have to be from that time but I want it to have the functionality. I want to know where I can find one but please don't say ebay because I have checked and their weren't anyones that laced up except girdles, which i do not want.
If you are after a real corset try Vollers. They are a UK brand, reasonably priced (still not cheap) and have a huge range. I have a couple and love them, they are well made and durable

Review: "A Great and Terrible Beauty" (The Gemma Doyle Trilogy) by The corset on the book cover actually stands for society's restraints on females in that era. Definitely for a wider audience than young adult.
