I have an oil lamp that I think may be victorian?
It has a double duplex burner ceramic body the shade is pale green going down to clear and is etched the base is sort of diamond shape if that makes sense I do have pictures that will be more helpful than my description thankyou in advance any info would be greatfully appreciated.
I collect victorian items & a picture would be helpful. Most victorian lamps had a brass burner.
Victorian glass pear drop shades need metal holder to fit lamp holder. Where do I buy?
The shades originally fitted into a metal holder with a circular hole in the middle for the lamp holder. 3 screws around the rim hold under the lip on the glass shade. The shades do not have a screw top just a small lip. They are heavy cut glass - 3 matching and two odd but similar. The diameter of the glass rim is 82mm.

The part you're after is usually called a 'Monks cap gallery'
Question about an Antique lamp?
I have a lamp that we found at a garage sale. It is a victorian style lamp, very pretty with flowers on it and brass footing, it looks like the oil style, but it is electric. On the turn knob it says Climax, patent January 21, 1890 does anyone know the appx value of a lamp like this and were there any electric lamps around then or was it converted?
Ms Thang, I did that already and still didn't come up with a value. I found some but nothing like it and none of them had a value.
HI. Climax made kerosene and oil lamps + its age = it is converted. I have seen Victorian age Climax lamps go for $150 - $550 at a dealer (ebay is only for ebay values!). You can learn more about it at the US patent and trademark office. Keep searching antique stores on the web you will find a similar lamp eventually.
Hope I've helped!

we've got your ERA!
i have recently aquired a very old brass lamp.. apparently off a victorian era ship, how do i get it valued?
brass lamp, in the shape of a cherub holding up a staff, with medusas underneath, approximate age 40-50 years
You can do some evaluation yourself using Google (see below), or you can find the Antiques Roadshow tour near you and wait in line for an evaluation. I would not take any single estimate seriously. An auction house in your area can give you a serious evaluation better than any antique dealer -- dealers have alterior motives to underestimate so that they can buy it from you and make a profit.
Lamp shade into a light fixture?
I have a room that has no light fixture,Idea's to turn a lamp shade into the light fixture cover? Adding something to the shade maybe?
The light is there...2 bulbs and a spiral post coming down from that . It is a old house. I think there was probally something very pretty there but it's long gone now. I have a lamp shade that reminds me of Old victorian times. It's cloth. I would have to put it on upside down on the ceiling. But how to decorate it? Hot glue and what? I am doing the room as a dressing room,2 closits and our dressers,a vanity table and mirror, I want old world/victorian.
It's a LAMP SHADE bone head! It goes around light bulbs to start with!
fire hazard - don't do it!
