I'm looking for description and value of 2 Bakelite bedroom (victorian ladyw/hooped lace skirt) table lamps.

The shade is white lace which matches the white lace hooped skirt. The lamp shade and hoop skirt light-up individually or both at the same. I bought them at an estate sale, the deceased was 91. She had lived in the same house with her deceased mother and grandmother. I was told the lamps were at least the age of the deceased and possibly older (mother and/or grandmother may have owed these bedroom table lamps. These bakelite lamps are in excellent condition, a few nicks to the victorian ladies, the lace lampshade and lace hooped skirt do not have rips, tears, holes, nor is the lampshade or skirt discolored. The bakelite has an odor when rubbed, and the bakelite may have darkened (original color may have been white, but is now darker white)with age.

where can you find inexpensive gothic victorian skirts?

red plaid, tarten some places call it, has to be some where in the U.S and it has has has to be inexpensive. under 20$

I don't think you are going to find one to buy for under $20, your best bet is going to be to try and rent it from somewhere. Check local College's that have theater programs, they may have a costume stock you can rent from, or try different costume shops, alot of times they have costumes they rent out.

What type of skirting board do I need to buy for a 'Victorian property'?

The closest would be ogee, but if you are trying to match it with existing stuff you may have to take a section to a joinery shop and get them to run up some from that. Original skirting was often thicker than the modern repro stuff.

Get some inexpensive dark fabric, cut a long skirt shape one for front, one for the back. Run elastic through a waistband seam, hem up the bottom, and ... you're off to the races LOL.

Wedding--I have to wear victorian clothing: hoop skirt, corset...?

My friend's wedding is in 8 days, and we just had our dress fittings... her wedding is the 19th century theme so as a bride's maid, I have to wear something like this http://www.1860garmentsbyglenda.com/undergarments.html We had a fitting a few months ago and they (a shop) just finished making the gowns. We had a final fitting yesterday and we got to take home our gowns. They are each about 12lbs. Mine is a silky lavender fabric. The corsets are heavily boned and the hoop skirts are really big and bulky. We have 4 inch heels too. Since the wedding is in the winter time, we have like 5 or 6 layers. The bride and her 4 bridesmaids were at the fitting yesterday and it takes an hour or two to get us all dressed. My corset is the tightest of all of ours for some reason, it takes off 5 inches from my waist and it is super tight on me. The lady that fit us says that it is fine and makes me look pretty. The part for the breasts is too big for me so I have to wear these silicone pads.
i am nervous for the ceremony because i am going to be in that dress for at least 2-3 hours. is there a way to get used to my corset?

Yes you can work on being more comfortable with the corset. I would recommend lacing in the corset with only a 2" reduction for a day or 2, then tighten it an inch for a day, than an inch more, then the final inch for a day or 2. Put on hose first, then shoes, then work up the layers. Once you put on the corset you don't want to bend to your feet for your shoes.

If I were you I would start lacing in tomorrow, loosen the laces a little and sleep in the corset if you can tolerate it

NOTE normally you would take longer to complete this process but you only have 8 days.

Looking for a Victorian styled flower girls dress for my wedding?

I wearing a beautiful Victorian styled outfit that consists of a back and front lacing Victorian styled corset in red / burgundy shantung satin with lace overlaid on the centre front and centre back panels. A short sleeved chemise in black satin and a black lace and shantung satin Victorian styled skirt.

Does Anyone Know How You Make A Victorian Pinny For Tonight?

Tomorrow at school its victorian day and you have to get dressed up i've already got my under skirt,skirt and boots i just need to make a pinny thanks x

Victorian pinnys usually had a bib and often had a frill at the sides of the straps over the shoulders, similar to that round the bottom and sides. Traditionally they would've been made of white cotton, so if you can find anyone with an old flat bed sheet they no longer want? Good luck!
Another thought. If it's for a young lady rather than a maid, they wore something altogether more substantial than the domestic aprons of the era, something almost smock-like, but still made of white cotton...Try Googling images of "The Railway Children". Have a great day! Cx
