What are the most collectable/valuable 50 cent coins in Australia?
I'm a beginner collector and I've started mainly with the 1977 Silver Jubilee. What else should I be looking for? aside from the obvious Rams Head?
thanks
I don't quite understand the 'incused' 2000 coin. Aren't all coins incused? Or is there a particular 2000 coin that differentiates it from others?
Other than from mint set, collector and proof issues, the 1966 silver round is a very popular and collectable piece. Other collectable varieties of circulation types include the double bars of 1979 and 1980, pre-Jubilee dates in mint state, 1994 Family Year wide date, and 2000 Millennium incused flag cross. The Millennium incused has lots of potential to be an item of rarity in the near future. The incused variety was intended for collector set 50 cents but none ended up being struck for the sets. It was later revealed that the incused variety die was used to struck 200,000 Millennium 50 cents pieces for circulation, which is only about 1% of the total 16.5 million Millennium type.

What denomination coins & notes are used in Australia presently? From highest to lowest?
What are the travelling means available in Perth & Melbourne? bus, trains, trams? How much each of them cost for 1km?
Thanks a lot!
in australia we have (from largest to smallest)
$100, $50, $20, $10 and $5 <-- all notes
$2, $1 <-- gold coins
50c, 20c, 10c and 5c <-- silver coins, bigger size=bigger value
Travelling in melbourne
Best way is Train
Taxi's are cars that you pay to take you anywhere, many not actually knowing where to go, so i wouldnt trust that, and its quite expensive, with raising fuel prices.
Trams are like trains but are on the road and are smaller, more flexible and get you places fast, but theyre routes arent as straight forward
Which brings me to buses, I personally dont like them, only because you need to know which route gets you where, and wouldnt recommend it for a tourist or new melbournian, but if your a bus expert, they can get you places trains cant, although they take a while, i recommend u only use to get from station to station.
You dont buy per km, you buy one ticket and it allows you to use ANY transport (bus, tram, train) (NOT TAXI) for however long u buy it for. you can buy daily, 2 hour or multiple failies to save money, and if your here for a year, you can buy an annual for about $120 and get public transport anywhere anytime.
A daily for concession is usually around $3.20
Any questions just ask!
please visit
www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au
it gets u places here!
have fun!

Where to exchange coins for bills in Sydney, Australia?
I've been here about 2 months, using cash mostly, and I've managed to amass about $200 in coins (change). I'm obviously not good at spending it, so is there a place to exchange it for bills (notes)? I don't have a bank account here.
You don't need to have a bank account to exchange it at the bank. Some banks will give you bags and you will need to bag it up before they will accept it. also some banks now have automatic coin machines in the customer area so there is no need to line up.

Coins amounts for the bank in Australia?
I have a big jar of change that I want to turn into the bank. I can't remember how much of each coin to put in the bag. Do you know?
Coin bags are free from any bank.
Ask for a bundle - it will also tell you on the bags what amount for what coins.
Have fun sorting it all out !
Kids love doing this sort of thing..
