I have a large number of pre decimal coins; are any of any value?

The coins vary in value from pennies up to half-crowns and crowns.

it depends on what dates they have on them;some will be worth pennies others hundreds of pounds

How can I change pre decimal coins for cash?

Try your bank but I suspect you'll need to send them to the Bank of England.

When did British decimal copper" coins stop been made of copper?

In 1971 decimal copper coins were made of copper, when did this stop?

1p and 2p coins changed to a copper alloy (much cheaper) in 1992.

"In 1992 the metal used for the one penny and two penny coins was changed from bronze to copper coated steel. The use of pure copper meant that the colour of mint coins is slightly different. Also, as the density of steel is less than bronze and the weight was unchanged, the newer coins are noticeably thicker than the older ones."

and this extract from the British Royal Mint:

"Composition: Bronze 97% copper, 2.5% zinc, 0.5% tin (until September 1992)
Copper-plated steel (since September 1992) "

Where can i find pictures of every australian decimal coin made so i know what i have and what i need.?

I have only just started to collect coins of australian decimal and would like the pictures to compare the coins to and to know what i am missing thankyou.

how to find out what pre decimal U. K. coins are worth?

I have a mixture of pre decimal U. K.coins and I am looking for the value

They need to be old pre decimal coins. Looks like they would have to be from the 1950's or before. I see nothing of real value above that date. If you live in the UK you could see a local dealer. I know of no site to help you.

What can I do with loads of pre-decimal coins I found with my metal detector.?

They may be worth something to a coin shop or on ebay, but probably not much if later than, say, 1945
