Does anyone know if it is possible to ship 117 gold coins to France from the US and if so, how can it be done?

I need to ship 117 gold coins to France, but can not seem to find a carrier that will allow it. USPS says that you need a permit from the Bank of France, but has no information on how to get one. Any help that anyone could give me would be appreciated.

How can I find out if some old ww2 bills and coins from france and Germany I have are worth anything?

title says it all. Got the stuff from my best friend's grandpa and wou't mind selling some but not all of it for a profit.

You could go to a local library and get a copy of Krause's "World Coins" for the values of your items. This is a standard reference for world coins and might mention the currency.

where i can buy gold coins France?

did you try looking on ebay........go to flea markets..............

If I have a large number of Euro coins, what is the easiest way to convert them to notes or other currency?

I am minutes from France & Germany, but I've never figured out what to do with my coins that I've inadvertently collected and wondered if there is something similar to coinstar in France or Germany for Euro coins?

Coinstar operates its coin counting machines in two European countries: in the UK, where over 800 of its machines (as of late 2007) can count coins in Pence/Pounds, and in Ireland, where their machines can count Cents/Euros:

http://www.coinstar.co.uk/uk/WebDocs/A1-1

Otherwise, the already-offered suggestion about selling these coins online is a good one. eBay regularly features auctions of banknotes and coins from people who've acquired them in other countries, then brought them back home and want to dispose of them. The Coins & Paper Money Coins: World - Collections, Lots category is the most frequently used for these sales (as are the "Collections, Lots" category for US and Canadian coins for those wishing to dispose of those).

Of course, most bidders will want to buy the lot for somewhat under its face value, and factor in shipping costs into the equation as well, so you'll receive less than exchange value. Still, I've been surprised by just how often sellers of lots of these types realize at least half-way respectable prices. It doesn't happen every time, but enough to make this a worthwhile sales option.

Finally, if you're truly just minutes away from two Euro-using countries, perhaps just save up the higher denomination coins and use them on your next trip there? The smaller coins, if they're not worth your while, might make a fun gift for a small child in your family or circle of friends, assuming they're old enough, both not to swallow them and to enjoy playing with them! Kids can use them for everything from playing at shopping at the market to filling pirate chests, to skimming them at one another across the floor.

Where can I find out how much my foreign coins from the 1800's are worth?

These coins are from Germany, Spain, France and other places.
They are all dated back to the 1800's. My GreatGrandfather brought them back from the war and passed them down to my mother and now to me.

Where can I exchange foreign coins for American money?

My husband has collected a couple of cup fulls of foreign coins from the service and some trips afterwards--France, Hong Kong, Mexico, Canada, etc. I could just throw these coins out, but I'm wondering if there is someplace I may take them and trade them for American money. The banks around here only trade for foreign "bills" not coins. Most of them are dated in the 60's or 70's, but some are older. Is there a fee to exchange them? They probably don't amount to much.

Remember that a lot of European contries are now using the Euro, so old Lira, Psetas, Deutchmarks, French Francs are valueless.

Look on the web, there are companies that will do so, but they charge very high commissions. Often not worth it.

If the coinage is still valid then perhaps your local travel agent will give them to a traveller visiting that region.

Also lots of charities will accept them, they get special rates for exchanging currency.
