Is it a good idea for Mexico to change its coins into coins made of silver?

as in most countries that went away from gold and silver coins so the case should be with Mexico because with gold and silver the silver etc. will be more worth then the actual coin itself

Can I use these coins in Mexico?

Hi! Can someone please tell me if I can use these coins in Mexico? Sorry the photos aren't great, it was the best I could do!

I brought these coins home after a trip with my family in the 80s, I hope I can exchange them for some churros on my upcoming trip to Cozumel!

please let me know if they'll be accepted as legal tender.

thanks!

Hi there!

Sorry, but you can´t use it. Only you can sell to a collector.

In Mexico we use the pesos, your coins are too old. This are the actually coins.

Mexico old silver coins what are they worth?

and also

Probably worth more for their weight in silver than legal tender value. But if it's an uncommon coin the highest value will be with a collector.

Is there a coin from Mexico worth 100 pesos?

I found a coin that has 100 stamped on one side, and on the other there is somebody's head. I know there is a bill worth 100 pesos, but I'm not sure about the coin.

There is no coin currently in circulation for 100 pesos.
The past edition of coins had 100, 200, and 500 pesos.
I lived in Mexico for 12 years and home town 5 miles north of the border.

This is my help from Washington, D.C. United States of America.

How much is a $500 coin from Mexico worth?

It is an 1888 silver coin

Where can I exchange foreign coins for American money?

My husband has collected a couple of cup fulls of foreign coins from the service and some trips afterwards--France, Hong Kong, Mexico, Canada, etc. I could just throw these coins out, but I'm wondering if there is someplace I may take them and trade them for American money. The banks around here only trade for foreign "bills" not coins. Most of them are dated in the 60's or 70's, but some are older. Is there a fee to exchange them? They probably don't amount to much.

Remember that a lot of European contries are now using the Euro, so old Lira, Psetas, Deutchmarks, French Francs are valueless.

Look on the web, there are companies that will do so, but they charge very high commissions. Often not worth it.

If the coinage is still valid then perhaps your local travel agent will give them to a traveller visiting that region.

Also lots of charities will accept them, they get special rates for exchanging currency.
