Can anyone tell me about New Zealand coins from the World War II era?
I was looking through my late father's WWII coin collection from the South Pacific when he served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-45. I was curious what the purchasing power of these coins might be today, or what they might be worth, if anything. If I showed up in Wellington, what could I buy with them? These are the coins: half crown silver coin; 2 sixpence silver coins. Also, shilling silver coin from Australia. Thanks.
Go to your local library and get the Krause Catalog of World Coins .It contains thousands of foreign coins of the world with their approximate values.Don't go to a coin dealer because if he wants the coin he will offer you a low price.Caveat Emptor

New Zealand coins in Australia?
I'm currently living in Australia.
I often get New Zealand 10c or 20c coins without realising while shopping.
I really get annoyed with those coins.
My Australian friends say that I can use New Zealand coins at shops with no problem, but I'm not really comfortable using them because they worth less than Australian coins.
So, I normally use them for parking ticket machine or vending machine.
But is it really ok using New Zealand coins at shops in Australia? What do Australians do with New Zealand coins?
While they're not legal tender most people still get them in their change. I agree it is annoying, I usually just hand them over with a heap of other change so people don't notice.
I once had play money given to me at work, I was not impressed, that $1 was taken out of MY pay.

I have new zealand coins I'd like prices for?
I have Some New zealand Pennies that I would like to know how much i can sell for, I was wandering if anyone knows a site on the internet that i can do this or if anyone can help me out, it would be great.
:)
Mwah
Nicky
i meant how much they are worth to sell to coin collectors
Your best bet would be to take your coin to a local coin dealer. They will be able to tell you so much more by evaluation the condition of the coin. They will also know the amount minted and what it is going for in today's market.
Try posting pictures on this website (there are many coin experts here that can help you evaluate it - there also may be people willing to buy if you are trying to sell):

What year was it that New Zealand 5 cent coins were supposed to be rare?
Just wondering, was it 2002, 03, 04, or 05??
(don't tell me it was 00!! ;-)) Any New Zealanders here who know please let me know - if you aren't a kiwi don't worry answer anyway.
It's the 2004 issue. Although 15,000,000 were minted only 32,000 were actually put into circulation. This is because it was in 2004 that the Reserve Bank of New Zealand first considered removing the 5c coin. Consequently, it held back its circulation.
There were no 5c coins minted in 2005 and 2006. So, if you find any for those years you are really in the money!! :-)

Hongkong, USA and New Zealand coins?
I have coins money of Hong Kong , USA and New Zealand. Is there any place i can take them for exchange to peso. Does bank accept them?or only bills?
Regardless where you are, whether in Singapore or HK or USA...nobody accepts coin to be exchanged in the countries currency. USA coin you can just open an a US Dollar account and deposit it. Same with HK dollar go to BDO and open a HK Dollar savings account.
Banks only accept the curreny in coin if its for deposit other than that, most banks don't accept coin only bills
