Is there a website that shows pictures of all UK coins that are accepted as payment?
Im in work and in the petty cash tin there is a 2 pound coin but its slighty thicker and its only gold no silver in the middle.
I know that in magazines you can buy special coins like a £5 coing and you can use it in the shops but is there i picture list of currently used coins?
And i dont have access to a bank to see if its real cuz its 10pm!
The dates on it are 1694-1994
On the top is a small crown, under it is a criss cross pattern which looks like 3 diamonds in i line with swirls on both ends.
In the middle is a oval with a person in a robe with a shield(cross on it) and a spear and holding a flower.
On the bottom it says bank of england
You have a 2 pound coin minted in nickel-brass alloy, and issued before the intro of the bi-metallic(2 color) type. Your 2 pound dated 1994 was minted to commemorate the 300th Anniversary of the Bank of England. It's legal tender, but due to its much lower mintage compared to the current bi-metallic type, not many people have seen it coz most of the coin ended up in collectors' possessions. Why are some UK bronze coins now magnetic?
I have noticed that some recently minted one penny coins are magnetic. Is this something to do with coin operated machines?
There is very little copper left in U.K. pennies. As of 1992, steel has been added making them magnetic. Some coins such as the pound are part copper and nickel. Cheaper metals are used so the coins scrap value dosen't exceed its numeric.

Is there any commercial benefit from buying Gold Coins in Gibraltar and bringing them back to UK?
Walking down Main Street in Gibraltar the way many of the shops are selling Gold Coins would seem to suggest there is some commerical advantage. Are they cheaper there? Presumably the price of gold is world wide - so are we talking tax diferences? How many can you LEGALLY take into a) Spain b) UK?

You are saving on the VAT which if you bought the coins in the UK would be another 17.5%.
